However there is a significant difference between cosmetic fragrances and essential oils. A lavender-scented fragrance, may smell like pure lavender essence, but it does not have the essential oil’s antiseptic therapeutic properties. Essential oils are extracted from the roots, stems, branches, bark, leaves, fruit, and flowers of various plants and they carry medicinal properties. Therefore it is important that you choose the high quality natural essential oils for therapeutic use. 
Aromatherapy is much more than just playing around with pretty smells. It is the art and science of using naturally extracted, aromatic plant extracts and essential oils for healing purposes. The healing scents of these essential oils can reduce anxiety, stress, ease minor pains, they can balance the health of body, mind and spirit. 

Apart from scheduling a massage that incorporates these oils, there are several other ways to experience these aroma  therapeutic oils in your home. Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea Tree Oil is one of the most beneficial and useful essential oils to have at home. It has antimicrobial, anti fungal and antiviral effects. As a highly effective natural antiseptic it is often used in place of iodine for cuts and scrapes. Blend it with an equal part of Lavender oil for pain relief. Add a few drops of Tea Tree Oil to shampoo or conditioner to alleviate dandruff. When applied on the skin essential oils should always be used in diluted form, blended with carrier oils such as almond, jojoba or coconut oil.
Treats: acne, dermatitis, eczema, cold sores, nail fungus, Candida infection, insect bites, warts, dandruff, hemorrhoid 
Tip: Use Tea Tree Oil as an organic disinfectant spray around your home. Simply add a teaspoon of it to the water in a misting bottle. A few drops of undiluted oil on your pet’s bed/blanket will keep fleas away.

If you feel tired during driving put a few drops on a tissue and place it near you in the car. It also has insect repellent effects and keeps cockroaches, spiders out of the house. Add a few drops to your body lotion to keep the annoying mosquitoes away. If you are not fond of peppermint tea, eat a few drops with honey to treat heartburns.

Tips: Add a few drops to carrier oil and massage gently into your skin to relieve stomach cramps. Beforeremoving ticks, a drop or two of pure peppermint oil will draw the insect out so it can be eliminated.

One of the most popular and well-known essential oils, lavender oil not only used for relaxation; it also soothesrespiratory illnesses and is an effective pain reliever. Due to its natural anti-inflammatory effect it very effective for minor burns to speed wound healing and reduce scarring. It is commonly used to reduce stress by applying lavender oil to the soles of the feet of patients. 
Treats: aches, pains, burns, wounds, respiratory illnesses, sleeping disorders, sore muscles, headache, insect repellent, acne, insect bites, skin rashes
Tips: For a good night sleep use lavender oil in a diffuser in your bedroom, or simply put a few drops on the pillowcase before going to bed. Use lavender oil labeled “culinary grade” in your kitchen to add many dishes. It helps to bring out flavors!

The essential oil of this herb must be always diluted in a carrier oil such as olive or almond oil before applying it on the skin.
